Top 10 Favorites: Lipsticks

Hello everyone! I am back with an update, on a weekday to boot! This is because I am stuck at home for the next 2 week :( I’m only on day 2 and I’m missing work.

Anyway, for today’s post, I will be doing my Top 10 Lipstick Favorites. These are the ones that I reach for the most when I’m doing my makeup, but of course, I’m pretty sure that this list will change in the next few months. These are mostly drugstore brands and some local ones as well. I am currently on a shopping ban (one that I am failing miserably) so you won’t be seeing a lot of new products from me for quite some time.

L-R Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream “Monte Carlo”, Revlon Kissable Balm Stain “Rendezvous”, Revlon Lip Butter “Juicy Papaya”, Revlon Lip Butter “Raspberry Pie”, Maybelline Color Sensational “Fifth Ave. Fuchsia”, Ever Bilena “Love That Red”, Ever Bilena “Siennas”, Revlon Superlustrous “Fire & Ice”, MAC Hey Sailor “Sail La Vie”, Fine Touches “Luscious Mauve”

As you can probably see, I am more of a bright colored lipstick kind of girl. I feel like I can’t pull of nude lips, I think it makes me look too pale and sickly. I do love my reds however, I also noticed that I’m growing to like berries as well. Also! Have you noticed how much I <3 Revlon lip products?

And here are some swatches for you, lovely people.

There you go lovely people. No reviews since that would take me forever, but do let me know if you would want some of these reviewed :)

Until next time :)

DIY: Personalized Phone Charger

Hello everyone! I am here today with a DIY for you guys. I recently upgraded (finally!) my phone, and seeing how everyone in the house uses the same cable and charger, I decided to personalize mine to avoid confusion.

It’s such a simple DIY project but I am so in love with the results!

For this project, you will need:

  • Nail polish color of your choice
  • Top Coat (Quick dry or not)
  • Magic tape or painter’s tape

How to:

  • Tape off areas you wouldn’t want to get paint on, especially around the cable, you wouldn’t want to get paint on the connectors.
  • Start painting thin layers until you are happy with the color/opacity
  • Let dry for a few minutes and top off with top coat
  • Let dry overnight

And here are the results:

Image

Doesn’t it look so pretty?

Image

I am utterly in love with the color <3

So as you can see, I actually painted the ends of the cable, I thought it looked kind of weird to only have a part of it painted. Also, in case you were wondering, I used a local brand of nail polish, OMG Crystal Sand in Emerald. I specifically bought this color for this project and I fell in love with it. It’s less than Php20 and it is such a pretty color. I topped off the adapter with a flakie from the same brand, just because I am obsessing over flakies right now and then I topped it with Orly’s Sec N Dry to smooth it out and to help it dry faster..

I also painted the plastic wrapping that comes with the cable, since it is transparent, and I use it to keep my cable tangle free.

You could use some glue and loose glitter for this, but for practicality’s sake, I think it is much more easier and cheaper to just use nail polish, there’s also less clean up to do afterwards,

Well, that is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed this simple DIY project and I will see you guys soon <3

Skincare Haul

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are well. I am back with a haul! That’s right, a haul, specifically, a skincare haul. Get excited people! (kidding!) So, my “normal” skincare routine consists of washing my face, applying serum, and if I’m not too lazy, a moisturizer. Well, it hasn’t been working out too well for me since my skin has been pretty bad lately. It’s been dry, irritated, and I’m breaking out (lovely image for you guys) plus, I have hyper pigmentation and scarring left from previous break outs. Generally speaking, my skin is combination, acne prone and incredibly sensitive, so I don’t do much to it. The only time I applied more than 3 products on my face was when the dermatologist gave me a prescription, and that was a few years ago. So right after work, I went to the mall to buy some products. I ended up buying things at The Body Shop since I couldn’t find any other products I wanted to try, and I have been wanting to try out their Cleansing Butter after reading about it on Essie Button’s blog.

ImageHere is my haul lovely people.

I got the following: Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, Tea Tree Skin Clearing toner, Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion, Tea Tree Face Mask and a Muslin Cloth. The other two products, namely the Honeymania Body Butter and Honeymania Shower Gel were freebies. Awesome right? I also got a free membership card from them.

So I got the Camomile Cleansing Butter as a makeup remover/pre-cleanse and I got it together with the muslin cloth, since a muslin cloth helps to remove the cleansing butter/cleansing balm better.

The rest are pretty self explanatory, I plan on adding these products to my current skincare routine and hope that they do work on me. Also, can I just say something? The Honeymania Body Butter smells SO DARN GOOD!!! I am not kidding guys, it smells fantastic! GO! Buy one now! I seriously cannot stop smelling it!

I will most probably do an in depth review in a couple of months but do let me know if you guys want me to do an in depth review on a specific product.

See you guys later!

10 Little Secrets Tag

Hello everyone! I am back after such a long time. It has been a busy, busy month for me. Transferring jobs plus our internet service provider sucks! We didn’t have any internet connection for a week, so yeah. Life happened.

Just to give you guys a little update, I’ve been obsessing about Chicago PD! It helps that my favorite actress, Sophia Bush, is there, but I truly enjoy the show. I’m not really into action-y shows or movies, but I enjoy watching this one. Also, like I have mentioned earlier, I transferred jobs! I start some time this week. I’m pretty excited about this one, so wish me luck and I hope everything turns out great.

Anyway, that seemed quite lengthy. Onto the tag! This one has been floating around the YouTube Beauty Community and I decided to do this one, hopefully I’ll be able to do more tags soon!

1. What is one product that makes you feel like a million dollars?
                     Lipstick, definitely lipstick.

2. What is your skin care secret/passed down tip?
I am honestly inconsistent with skin care (heh) but my secret is to never sleep with makeup on.

3. What is your hair care secret?
Not washing my hair every day, conditiong it obsessively whenever I do wash it, and treatment oils/leave-in conditioners whenever I can. Right now I am using Lucido-L Styling Milk <Straight> as my leave in conditioner/heat protectant and Lucido-L Hair Make Supplement Repairing Oil <Straight> as my treatment oil at night. I used to use Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum (it smells so summery!) as my leave-in treatment.

4. What is your diet rule?
I don’t diet. Period. End of story. I can never go on a diet since I like to eat, A LOT. Ask my friends and my boyfriend. I am constantly eating. I am trying to be more conscious of what I’m eating these days since I’m not getting any younger. I cut down on chips (I actually don’t like them that much anymore), chocolates and other unhealthy food; I do love munching on fruits though, and I’ve been eating more veggies as well.

5. Workout tips?
I don’t workout haha. I tried to before, but I can’t keep up with it. I have some videos that I can do at home, but I can never get around to doing it since I’m too lazy and I always have an excuse, such as I’m too tired or whatever. But I do try to make up for it by walking around a lot and the occasional badminton games. I do want to try yoga though.

6. What perfume is your secret weapon?
I am addicted to perfumes, body sprays and colognes! The one I’ve been using since I was in  high school is Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Revitalize, but I haven’t been able to find that one ever since, so I settle for Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. I also like Lancome Miracle, Bath & Body Works Black Amethyst and Bath & Body Works Pleasures Sheer Freesia Body Splash. [Edit: not Peony, it's sheer freesia!]

7. An item of clothing that always turns heads
I haven’t noticed an item of clothing that turns head and I don’t know if it’s considered as an item of clothing, but my Forever 21 boots have been complimented a couple of times already.

8. Most treasured piece of jewelry
My anchor pendant and ring that the boyfriend gave me.

9. Who is your style crush?
Sophia Bush, Leighton Meester, Hayley Williams are some but it changes.

10. Tell us something we don’t know about you
I was in choir since 3rd grade, and I was in the school choir throughout high school.

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed that! And I’ll see you guys soon!

OOTD and Review: L’oreal Shine Caresse in Bella

Happy New Year loves! Wow, time has flown by so quickly. I can’t believe that it’s already 2014! I will try to blog more often this year! Hopefully I will be able to do at least 1 post per week, fingers crossed.

Last December 29, I went out with my boyfriend’s family and I tested out a new product that I got, namely L’oreal’s Shine Caresse.

Let your lips take centerstage, L'Oreal style. Say it in lustfully kissable color with L'oreal Paris Shine Caresse. Because you're worth it.

Image

Dazzling shine. Fresh moisture. Light-weight lip color.

Image

The 1st lip color to fuse with your lips: rich defined color yet a barely there lip sensation.
Lips feel cocooned in a fresh, dewy sensation.
The modern way to play your lip color.

Well, that was quite a lengthy description! Basically it’s a lip gloss/lip stain. Let’s find out later if it delivers. Now onto the packaging. I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE! Its light gold color looks sleek and sophisticated, although it can be fingerprint magnet, I overlook that fact because overall, it looks really nice. I also like the fact that there is a transparent part so you can see the exact shade. The shape is quite unusual since the end is tapered, I actually like it, although it may not be the case for others.

Image

I got the shade 604 Bella. I’m not sure if this is available in other countries (y’all know how it is). It is a gorgeous peachy pink with some shimmer in it . The doe foot applicator has a pointed tip which is great for lining the lips so you could get a clean edge. I love how this smells! I don’t normally mind scented cosmetics, for the most part, I just ignore it, but this one smells really, really good. It’s slightly sweet and floral but not over-powering. If they made a perfume with this scent, I’d instantly buy it (no, I’m not kidding)

I got this shade because I thought it looked closest to the one the model was wearing above but it turns out that this isn’t it. Shame, because I really want that shade, if you know what the shade is, please do let me know!

Lip swatch

As for pigmentation and staying power. I give this two thumbs up. As you can see, with 1 coat, it gives my lips a nice hint of color but the color is very buildable, so if you want just a hint of color, go with 1 or 2 coats. But if you want a deeper color, go for more :)

For it’s staying power, I have absolutely no complains. Man, does it stay. I wore mine at around 9AM, had lunch, went shopping and I reapplied at around 4PM. I went home at around 10PM, removed my makeup and the following day I still had a little bit of color left on my lips.

Image

Full face with 3-4 coats of L’oreal Shine Caresse in Bella

This initially applies glossy and then kind of dries to a tacky, sticky finish before it ultimately turns into a stain. It left minimal stains/marks on my cups and even after dabbing my lips. The only downside? I think I may be allergic or sensitive to one of the ingredients since it left my lips dry the following day.  As in super dry! My lips felt weird and crackly and dry and it looked dry and it started to look like it was chapped. The only other lip product to do this to my lips is Lipcote. I think it’s the alcohol in these products. As much as I loved the product when I used it, the after effects weren’t pretty.

Overall:

  • This is a superb product that delivers
  • Sleek packaging especially for a drugstore brand.
  • Retails for Php595/$13-14, a little pricey but definitely worth spending some money on it.
  • Good color pay-off that is buildable
  • Long lasting
  • Smells nice
  • Contains alcohol so it may dry out your lips

It’s such a shame that it severely dried out my lips. It’s already January 1st and my upper lip is still dry as hell, even though I slather my lips with lip balm (Vaseline Lip Therapy is my savior) and I drink loads of water :(  And before I end this post, I shall leave you with the outfit I wore that day :)

Till next time lovely people! :)

Review: E.L.F. Eyelid Primer

Hello everyone! I am back after such a long hiatus! I’m thinking of re-vamping this blog and not just focusing on beauty reviews. I might start doing tutorials, challenges or post a few personals every now and then. What else would you guys like to see?

I truly apologize for being inconsistent with my postings these year. There are a few reasons for that, I think I kind of lost interest for a while, and while that may be the major factor, I also had technical issues. My laptop gave out on me (thanks dad, for giving me yours) and I wanted a new camera because I felt that the quality of the photos could be better, but for now, I will settle for my trusty ‘ol digital camera.

Moving on, I purchased this e.l.f. Eyelid Primer about a year ago with the hopes of wearing eyeshadow more often. Well, it has been a year now but I can count the number of times I used this with my hands. I’m not one to wear eyeshadow on an everyday basis, I use it mostly for special occasions or whenever I feel like it, because I am too lazy to remove eye makeup (waterproof mascaras are the bane of my existence). But I still got this, like I mentioned, with the hopes of wearing eyeshadow more often.

Image

Preps your eyelid for smoother, longer-lasting and crease-proof eyeshadow. The lightweight liquid formula quickly absorbs into the skin for comfortable wear and increases eye color longevity.

Packaging is pretty basic, no shade name indicated on the product but I have noticed that most e.l.f. products here do not have shade names on the packaging.

Image

Swatch

So as you can see from the swatch above, it helps make eyeshadow appear more vibrant. As for its promise for a crease-less eyeshadow, I can most certainly say that it does help eyeshadow stay on longer and during the times that I used this, I haven’t noticed any creasing.

The product itself has a creamy consistency that takes quite a while to dry and blend onto the lids, but once its dry, it doesn’t budge. If you’re looking for a cheap eyelid primer, I think this one is worth trying ;)

Although do note that e.l.f. (like most imported products) are a bit more expensive here than they are in the US.

Overall

  • Good product
  • Cheap! Around Php130/$3
  • Does the job

I will try to blog again as much as I possibly can. Thank you for staying with me despite the fact that my posts are erratic. I need to get the blogging mojo back.

Ciao loves <3
