Makeup of the Day

Well hello everyone! I am back with a quick post, since I am making this post on my phone.

I recently got the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and even though it hasn’t even been a full 24hours since I got this one, I have to say that I am in love with it. The colors in the palette makes absolute sense to me.

For today’s makeup, I used the following:

•Rimmel Lasting Finish 25Hour Foundation in 103 True Ivory
•Etude House Surprise Concealer Kit
•Etude House Easy Brow Pencil in Brown
•Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Salted Caramel, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle and Triple Fudge)
•Peripera My Mega Volume Mascara

•Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

Hopefully I can make another post for you guys again. My laptop’s being utterly uncooperative.

Until next time!

Loverly + Ninapo

Well hello everybody! I am back after such a long time. I haven’t been blogging since I have been having problems with my laptop, it’s been crazy. I plan on getting a new laptop some time next year, but for now, we shall stick with this one.

Anyway, from the title of this blog, you might think that I am getting married; sorry to burst your bubble but I AM NOT yet getting married. But having said that, it is fun to imagine what your wedding look would be 🙂

I have partnered with in creating different wedding looks for brides to be. If you’re not familiar with them, Loverly is your all in one source for wedding planning. It’s a great site to look in to if you’re planning your wedding since you’ll have everything you need with the click of a button! You could find vendors, save your favorite images for your inspiration and you could even shop!

I mentioned that I have partnered with them in creating different wedding looks, and let me tell you guys, it wasn’t easy! They have so many gorgeous wedding dresses on their page, I had such a hard time choosing my top 2 favorites!

For the first look,

Santina by Watters Too

I chose this dress called Santina by Watters Too.This one just screams casual elegance to me. I love how it looks so effortless, I think this would suit a beach wedding.

For the hair, I would pair this with effortless beach waves with a half up half down waterfall braid. As for the makeup, I would pair this with a bronzey, gold eye with some individual lashes, a bronzed, glowy skin plus some peach pink lips. Some products that I would use:

bronze 1Maybelline Bad to the Bronze, Urban Decay Half Baked, Nars Laguna Bronzer, Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Bitch Perfect

For my second choice:

Galina Signature Gown

Can I just express my complete and utter love for this dress? I can’t even. Wow. This dress somehow manages to look simple and glamorous at the same time. Personally, if I was planning my wedding, I probably would have chosen this one. I’m in love with this one.

For this dress, I would pair this with pin curls or if you would opt for an updo, a classic or a romantic updo would complement this gown.

For the makeup, I want it to look very polished and glamorous to complement the dress. I’d pair this with a classic winged eye with false lashes plus a few coats of mascara plus the perfect red lip. It could be a deeper or a brighter red, depending on your preference. Some products that you could possibly use:

bold lips

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Jeanne, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara, Eyeko Alexa Chung Eye Do Eyeliner in Carbon Black, Urban Decay Perversion False Lashes and Lime Crime Velvetine in Suede Berry

I had a lot of fun going through the gorgeous dresses at Loverly! I only wish that a service like this is offered in our country, but hey, who knows? Maybe a few years from now, we will have a similar service here 🙂

Goodbye for now gorgeous people and don’t forget to check out

Beauty Scenario Tag

Well hello lovely people! I remember watching Esteé’s Beauty Scenario Tag and I thought that it would be fun to do that tag. Yay! By the way, if you don’t know who Estèe or Essiebutton is, where have you been? You are seriously missing out. Go watch her beauty videos or her vlogs and fall in love with Reggie and Aslan! Okaaay, moving on to the tag.

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?

Hm, for the high end one, I guess I would keep my Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation since it does a good job at keeping oil at bay. Though I would like to try Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Foundation. For drugstore, I’m sticking with my favorite, Revlon’s Colorstay Foundation.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?

Honestly? I would tell her because my job involves interviewing people and I would want to know if I had lipstick on my teeth. But! I have to wonder, how did she end up having lipstick on her teeth? I mean, did she not look into a mirror first before conducting the interview? Maybe it’s just me but I tend to check myself in the mirror first before conducting interviews.

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?

Any bright or bold colored lipstick, maybe MAC’s Diva or Lush’s Ambition.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?

Makeup wise? Nothing because we weren’t allowed to wear makeup in high school but for my hair? Oh wow, 1. Don’t get a pixie cut 2. Don’t get that dreadfully weird short/long haircut 3. That bright red hair, should’ve gotten it done professionally, not diy haha. Fun times, fun times to be experimental.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.

I have gotten a bad haircut before I just smiled and left and ranted on my way home haha. But I get over it quite quickly. I mean, it’s hair. It’ll grow back.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?

Urban Decay Naked Palette. You can do so many looks with it!

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?

This is weird but it has happened before at the office. While we were in the processing of transferring offices, my locked pedestal was raided, all my pens and beauty stuff was gone, including a beautiful mirror that was gifted by my aunt. I was so pissed off. I digress, but I hope that my lipstick collection is safe. Everything else can be taken but do not go through my lipstick collection.

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs

I would not do the same to something of theirs, that’s just awful. I’m passive aggressive and sarcastic as well or sometimes I just get really pissed since I have quite a bit of temper, I’d probably say something like “Oh wow, this is still in great condition” with a really sarcastic look on my face. But I like to think that my friends are nice enough to take care of my stuff and not return it in awful condition.

That is it for now, I hope you had fun reading that. I tag everyone who wants to do this tag, if you decide to do this, leave me a comment down below. I would love to read or watch your answers!

Review: Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation

I should probably stop saying that I’ll try to post more often because that never happens, haha! But I am here today with a foundation review and I am also drafting a few posts so that I’ll be able to hopefully post a bit more in the coming weeks.

What has happened this past week? Well, we were in the middle of a typhoon, no electricity, water, telephone and internet for 5 days! We got our electricity back last Saturday but other areas still don’t have any power or water. Yeah, not good at all. Hopefully all power gets restored and sorted out soon since we have another typhoon on the way.

Okay, so today’s focus will be on the Clarins Skin Illusion Natural Radiance Foundation.

P1100206A light-reflecting, hydrating foundation that perfectly combines mineral and plant ingredients to create a naturally radiant complexion. The unique blend of ingredients continuously hydrates and protects the skin resulting in an incredibly comfortable, beautifully radiant and perfectly even complexion. Satin finish – Medium coverage – All skin types.

I got this in the shade 103 Ivory which, if I’m not mistaken, is the lightest shade in this line. This review took quite some time because I tested out the product for a couple of weeks on/off so that I could give it a proper review.

What I like about it is the packaging. It’s sleek and sturdy and it has a pump (hallelujah!). Most foundations do not have a pump which bugs the crap out of me because most of the time, I end up pouring more than I need. Another thing that I like about it? The scent. Man, it smells great! I can’t describe how it smells like but its good. Trust me. This doesn’t have that typical foundation smell; you won’t smell it on your face but if it’s on the back of your hand, you’ll smell it. That’s what I like about Clarins foundations, they smell really good.

Clarins claims that this is a medium coverage foundation that is suitable for all skin types and I have to disagree with that. It’s a sheer to medium coverage foundation that suits dry skin better. Its hydrating and makes your skin look radiant when you’re using it so dry skinned gals can benefit from it more than us oily skinned girls. When I use it, it doesn’t really give my skin that radiant, dewy look, it just makes my skin look oilier than it actually is, I just tend to powder over it or get rid of excess oil by pressing a one ply tissue all over my face. It works and makes foundation last a bit longer.

Like I mentioned, coverage is sheer. It evens out the skin tone but it doesn’t completely cover or blur imperfections or spots. However, it is buildable so what I do is I take a bit more foundation and layer it over areas where I’m spotty so that my foundation doesn’t look caked on.

I’m a little wary about a couple of things though. First, the SPF, it has SPF 10. On one hand, the low SPF means that you won’t have that white cast in your photos but if you’re worried about sun protection, this may not be enough. According to dermatologists, you should be using at least SPF 15 for adequate protection. I don’t worry about this since I use a sunblock of at least SPF 30 for the face, on a side note, you should be generous in applying sunblock since that is the only way you’ll be getting the full protection of the SPF.

Another is the wear time, I live in a tropical country where it’s humid 99% of the time and the average temperature is 30C when it’s not summer. I find that this stays on for about 4 – 5 hours, depending on where I am. If I’m at the office or somewhere with an air conditioner, it tends to last longer, but when I’m outside it tends to wear off faster. I guess it has more to do with the climate rather than the foundation itself.

  • Sleek packaging
  • Smells nice
  • Better suited for dry skinned people
  • Mid-range, priced at Php 1,365 / $30 for 30mL
  • Limited shade selection
  • Low SPF
  • Gives radiant, dewy finish
  • Hydrating

Unfortunately, this isn’t the best foundation for my skin type (oily) but I do think that this will work wonders on dry or normal skin type. I tried this foundation on my friend and it looked absolutely gorgeous on her. I say give it a try or ask for a sample if you have dry or normal skin 🙂

Until my next post! ❤

Hair Care Routine + Greasy Hair Tips

Hello everyone! Today, I will be sharing with you, my hair care routine. I’m very low maintenance about my hair, I’m a wash and go kind of girl but when I bleached my hair a few years ago, my hair got damaged. Not too damaged, but it was definitely drier than it was before. That was the time I got a little particular about my hair.

I have thick hair which is such a pain in the ass, especially since I live in a tropical country. It’s hot and humid, and my hair just makes me feel icky and sweaty.

Now, I used to wash my hair everyday and that dried it out even more, even if I used conditioner + it seemed like my hair was falling out since I had a LOT more hair fall. But then, I started washing it every other day until I could go 2 – 3 days in between washes. It has made my hair that much healthier, it has a lot more shine to it, it’s softer and there’s less fall out and split ends as well.

It’s healthier to not wash the hair everyday so that the natural oils in your hair can work it’s magic.  Initially, your scalp/hair will be oily when you’re starting to not wash it. This is because your scalp is used to producing so much oil, since you tend to strip the natural oils when you wash it everyday.

Okay, onto my routine and greasy hair tips.

(L-R) Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo, Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner, Lucido L – Styling Milk <Straight> and Lucido – L Treatment Oil <Straight>

Like I mentioned earlier, I don’t wash my hair everyday. On the days that I wash it, these are the products I use:

Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo – I’m in love with the smell of this shampoo (and conditioner!). It smells sweet but it’s not overpowering. When I shampoo my hair, I start from my neck going up, I find that this helps give volume to the hair.

Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner – After washing my hair, I apply conditioner on my hair. I apply conditioner from my ears to the ends of my hair. I don’t apply and to my roots because that just makes your scalp greasy plus it could weigh down the hair. I leave it on for 5 minutes or longer.

Lucido – L Treatment Oil <Straight> – Once I’m out of the shower, I wrap my hair around my towel while I finish putting on my makeup. Once my makeup is done, I remove my hair from my towel and apply 1-2 pimps of the treatment oil to the ends of my hair and whatever is left on my hands, I lightly apply to the top of my hair. And then I leave my hair be.

Lucido – L Styling Milk <Straight> – On the rare occasion that I would want to blow dry my hair or straighten it, I apply this styling milk/heat protectant to the ends of may hair.

I try to go 2-3 days before washing my hair. On day 2, I just brush my hair with a boar bristle brush to distribute the oils in my scalp. Day 3? I just put my hair up in a bun or tie it into a ponytail since my hair is currently too short for braids or I’d just put some baby powder on my scalp and rub it in to help absorb the oils. For day 4, if I’m going to be stuck at home, I won’t wash my hair yet but if I’m going out, I will wash it again.

Do note that it may take two weeks or longer before your scalp stops producing too much oil 🙂 Also, before anyone thinks that I don’t shower everyday, I just put my hair up in a clip or a bun or in a shower cap on days when I don’t wash it.

I hope that this has helped some of you. If you have other tips or tricks for me, do let me know.

Hello! A Quick Update

Hello everyone! I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. I’m currently killing time since I was way too early for a meeting (as usual). I’m doing okay, I’ve been working on my impulsive shopping trips plus the boyfriend is really helping me out with it.

If you live in the Philippines, NYX is now available locally. I saw a stall yesterday at SM Mall of Asia but as usual, prices are ridiculously jacked up. I checked their products and most of it is priced at Php390/$9. Sheesh. I’d rather buy online but it is nice to know that its available locally.

Also, I have been seeing a lot of UK brands here lately! I wish they’d bring Rimmel and Bourjois here. That would be a dream come true. In the mean time, I’d have to settle for online shopping (but shipping is expensive too).

As for my posts, I’ll be posting much more in the coming weeks. I’ll start posting tutorials and other things as well. I don’t want to focus solely on reviews but I do want to share tips that I’ve learned along the way from other bloggers and makeup artists as well.

Well, this is quite lengthy already. I hope you all have a great week ahead!

Review: Maybelline Colorshow Lipsticks

Hey everyone! Today I will be reviewing the Maybelline Colorshow Lipsticks! I think these are fairly new since I haven’t seen any review on these online. I saw these at the drugstore while I was looking for an eyebrow pencil, I ended up buying these and a couple more brushes and left the store with 3 new lipsticks, a bunch of brushes but without an eyebrow pencil :))

To be honest, I am not a big fan of the packaging, the plastic gets easily scratched so right now, mine looks like I’ve had it for a couple of months and it’s only been in my makeup bag for a week! I got one color in nude, pink and plum.

You have to admit, the names are pretty cute.

(L-R) Chic Peach, Crushed Candy and Sweet Orchid

Lipsticks. I get so excited buying and trying out new lipsticks. Am I the only one who gets like that? :)) Anyway, these lipsticks smell amazing, they smell like candy! It was a pleasant surprise when I took a sniff and then I couldn’t stop smelling them, they seriously smell so good!

These are nicely pigmented, the only let down was Crushed Candy , I was expecting it to be a deep, bright fuchsia. Don’t get me wrong, the color still looks gorgeous on the lips, but it was more of a light, nude-y pink, rather than a fuchsia.

If you’ll notice on the swatches, they have a ton of shimmer in them, bordering on looking frosty on the lips, if you apply too much. I wish they held back a bit on the shimmer since the colors look absolutely lovely. My favorite, despite being a let down at first, is Crushed Candy, the color looks nice on my lips. After a couple of hours, it kind of dries into a stain which is good.

If you’re going to use this, make sure your lips are hydrated since the shimmer can emphasize cracks and lines on your lips.

I got this at Php165 / $4 a pop, but it was a “launching” price. I guess the regular price would be around Php350+ / $7+ which is the norm around here.

  • Lovely pigmented colors
  • Smells like candy
  • Has a ton of shimmer (bordering frosty 😦 )
  • Packaging could be better

If you’re a big fan of lipsticks, I suggest that you try it out while its cheap, you’ve nothing to lose and you may find a shade that you will absolutely fall in love with.
